New Windsor School Classroom Hosts Publishing Party
Ms. Ramaglia and Ms. Kennedy's class in New Windsor School worked through the complete writing process to become published authors. The theme for this year's book was hiking in a New York forest and finding some sort of house. This pairs with the Social Studies curriculum where the students learn about New York State geography and have just finished learning about the Native Americans. They brainstormed ideas, created a rough draft of a story with a beginning, middle, and end, revised their writing, peer edited, and wrote their final draft. A final touch was to do a draft of an illustration. Ms. Ramaglia compiled the manuscript of short stories and sent it off to the publishers.
With a sweet twist, Ms. Ramaglia and Ms. Kennedy made sure there were enough books so that every student could be proud owners of the book they had published. These students worked so hard and we are very proud of them!
