GAMS Historians Create "A Walk Through Black History" Living Museum
5th grade students at GAMS brought Black history to life this month by creating "A Walk Through Black History" living museum. Students researched influential Black Americans and brought them to life during the living museum exhibit. Students dressed up as the person they researched and got to share information about their lives and accomplishments. Not only did they get to show parents and other classes during the museum but some students also shared on stage at the monthly leadership assembly.
In the hallways leading to the living museum, students and families passed by artwork inspired by Black artists. 1st grade artists displayed crowns inspired by Jean-Michel Basquiat. 3rd grade artists displayed painted paper colleges inspired by Kimmy Cantrell.
Story information provided by Ms. Aimee Bulson.
