The NFA Black History Club takes on the New York State Capitol!
The Black History Club sponsored a trip to Albany, NY to meet State officials and tour the Capitol building. We were hosted by Constituent Liaison, Ms. Jennifer Knox, a Newburgh native and NFA Alum. Ms. Knox works in the Office of Assemblyman Jonathan Jacobson, another Newburgh native and NFA alum. We were able to see the notable parts of the building, sit in the Senate chambers, then meet with our representative Mr. Jacobson on the Assembly side of the house.
Students were attentive to his words and also posed questions which lent itself to a lively dialogue! While there, the students also interacted with the Honorable Pamela J. Hunter- Speaker Pro Tempore, Majority Leader Crystal D. People-Stokes, Assemblyman Demond Meeks, and the Sergeant At Arms, Mr. Wayne Jackson.
Lastly, the students and chaperones were greeted by Newburgh native and NFA Alum - Ms. Meredith Henderson and staff. They graciously supplied our group with swag bags courtesy of the Office of the State Comptroller.
