NFA Hosts Annual Books and Breakfast Event
The spirit of collaboration was on full display at Newburgh Free Academy as students, families, and staff gathered for the highly anticipated annual Books and Breakfast event. This unique celebration transformed the school into a hub of activity, blending essential community resources with a festive atmosphere that highlighted the diverse talents of our Career and Technical Education (CTE) and Fine Arts programs.
Students Leading the Way
What makes Books and Breakfast truly special is the hands-on involvement of NFA students, who utilized the morning to give back to the community while sharpening their professional skills:
-
Barbering & Cosmetology: Our talented Barbering students provided free haircuts, while Cosmetology students added some sparkle with hair tinsel and professional manicures.
-
The Arts: Art students brought smiles to younger guests with intricate face painting, while Photography students captured the morning's best moments.
-
Music: The air was filled with melody thanks to live performances from our gifted student musicians and the renowned NFA Madrigals.
-
Culinary Excellence: None of this would be possible without our outstanding Culinary staff, who prepared a delicious breakfast buffet for all attendees to enjoy.
Empowering Families Through Literacy
At the heart of the event was a dedicated focus on the importance of reading. A sprawling book table was a centerpiece of the morning, offering a wide selection of titles for participants of all ages. Every guest was encouraged to select a book to take home, reinforcing the district’s mission to foster a love for literacy within the home and the classroom.
Beyond the school programs, several community organizations were on-site, providing families with valuable resources and connections to local services.
A Celebration of the Goldback Standard
Books and Breakfast is more than just a meal; it is a demonstration of what can be achieved when students, families, and community partners come together. By linking technical skills, artistic performance, and literacy, the event provided a meaningful space for families to engage with the district in an uplifting and supportive environment.
Thank you to all the student volunteers, staff members, and community partners who made this year’s Books and Breakfast a resounding success!
